Uganda Best Volunteer of the Year 2021

Ssamba Foundation recognizing and honoring her outstanding volunteers of the year. The volunteer of the year and other outstanding participants below have demonstrated that they are exceptional volunteers, by displaying dedication and enthusiasm for volunteering, and making a positive impact on people or a project while furthering the organization’s mission and vision.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR – Miranda Whitcomb Pontes – United States

Meet the 2021 Volunteer of the Year at Ssamba Foundation. Miranda, an American restaurant entrepreneur joined Ssamba Foundation this summer. Miranda facilitated various community development programs including feeding over 500 people through food-aid campaign during the second corona-virus lockdown.

Miranda also launched a fundraising drive to launch the construction of the “Community Resource Centre” and the organization field-outreach van. For recognition of her generous contribution, the first building at the centre was named after her – MIRANDA HOUSE.

BEST YOUNG VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR– Nicholas Veerapen – United Kingdom

Nicholas a recent graduate of Philosophy from the University in Durham, England, joined us for a full 6 months’ women empowerment and educational support program. Nicholas’ selfless commitment to empowering vulnerable people is something which shall remain in the history of the organization forever.

Nick launched a micro-finance project in which over 100 women have benefited from soft loans to start and empower their small scale businesses and also a skill training program for rural women.

Another year draws to a close and regardless of the challenges we faced, we have cause to celebrate and remain proud and thankful for your continued support to Ssamba Foundation – donating your time, money and experience, supporting us, working at our projects in Uganda as a team member we Thank you!
