Teaching Volunteer Project

Rural Education, Volunteering Projects
Education is the key to a child’s success in Uganda. Ssamba Foundation's teaching volunteer project focuses on international language classes, international cultural exchanges, arts, music, crafts, sports, games and educational murals. These initiatives are aimed at a wide range of audiences, from school children to local villagers. Education is a priority, it is one of the most important tools Ssamba Foundation can give the children in order to break the cycle of poverty affecting their lives and to help them become independent adults. The murals we paint are directed towards local schools to help raise awareness on key issues such as personal hygiene, recycling and environmental preservation. Improved knowledge of foreign language provides locals with a crucial skill in seeking further education and can unlock new job opportunities. Our Teaching…

Music, Dance & Drama Project

Our Supported Projects, Volunteering Projects
At Ssamba Foundation, we believe that Dance and Music are an excellent means of communicating and can also be downright fun for the kids! For anyone interested in joining and serve with us under this music, dance and drama project, you don’t need any qualifications to volunteer with this Uganda project, all you need is just lots of enthusiasm. If dance or music is your thing then consider sharing your creative talents teaching dance and music in Uganda. We use dance and music to address social issues and enable children to express their frustrations and confusions – and perhaps help them to understand and learn to cope with unwelcome situations. Dance and Music helps teach children life skills, communication and socializing skills. And it’s fun! This is a great opportunity…

Uganda Farm Volunteer Project

Uganda Farm Volunteer Project

Volunteering Projects
Volunteering at the farm in Uganda is among the best ways to immerse yourself in the Uganda culture and lifestyle. Starting in February and throughout the year, we need volunteers who can help with planting, caring for animals and harvesting our crops at our Uganda farm volunteer project. In this Uganda farm volunteer project, you will work alongside local farmers and help them with their daily work. Your tasks might include planting and watering the crops, cleaning the farm, feeding the animals, picking fruits and vegetables depending on what is needed at the time. Some days may be busier than others as you will be working at the pace of the local farmers who also choose to have “lazy” days. Besides working with crops, you will also be working with…

Children Support Volunteer Project

Children Support Volunteer Project

Our Supported Projects, Volunteering Projects
The children who spend time and have their schooling at this children’s centre are in need of love, care and affection which local staff is often too busy to offer them on an individual basis. Your volunteer work at this children support project will provide these orphaned and vulnerable children with the attention and mental stimulation that they need to develop healthy social skills and self-confidence. Participating at our children support volunteer project can make a large impact on both you and the orphans themselves. We recommend coming for four weeks or more if you are to make a great impact on the lives of these children. The voracious need these orphans have to seek and learn about any subject matter – sports, music, or farming – is both awe-inspiring…

Sports Development Volunteer Project

Sports Development Volunteer Project

Our Supported Projects, Volunteering Projects
Ssamba Foundation’s Sports development volunteer project collaborates with local communities to promote healthy lifestyles amongst local children and youth through teaching basic skills and tactics of football (soccer), volleyball, swimming and other sports. Given the lack of adequate recreational opportunities available to kids in the villages, our programs seek to provide at-risk children and youth with a safe environment where they can practice these activities in order to make productive use of free time.   In addition, we emphasize important core values like mutual respect, trust, fair-play and self-esteem as well as sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership. Volunteers contributing to this sports development volunteer project will plan and lead practices of understanding the activity. Sports and recreation activities are valued as social connectors and powerful development tools to counter a lack…
