If you think that a local Ugandan host family is a great place to hang your hat and rest your weary bones after a full day’ adventures, then get ready now to enjoy fascinating Mukono, Kampala and Jinja at our Ssamba Homestay in Kalagi town. We primarily host volunteers, but other travelers are also very welcome to stay.
Ssamba Homestay is a host family that provides a strong sense of family for international travelers, missionaries and volunteers during their stay in Uganda. Friendships forged here regularly last a lifetime. Our accommodation is the perfect spot to unwind after a day of adventures and experiences.
Ssamba Homestay is the home of Isaac Ssamba, the Founder of Ssamba Foundation and proprietor of Ssamba Safaris. Located in a humble neighborhood of just few meters away from Kalagi town, we are nestled away from all the noise of the big city, but close enough to ‘quickly’ get you back to downtown to sight see or party at the pubs and clubs until the birds are chirping.
We are just about 20 minutes’ drive from Mukono town on an all-weather tarmac road. In Kalagi, the road from Mukono forms a T-junction with the road from Kampala to Kayunga. Mukono the nearest major town is a rapidly expanding city about 45 minutes from Kampala and 60 minutes away from Jinja town- the adventure capital of East Africa.
The home offers:
- Mountain Bikes
- Camping Tents
- 4X4 and Saloon Cars
- Laundry Services
- Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
- In-country transport
- Airport Transfers
The Ssamba Homestay breaths a relaxed, family atmosphere and most people who stay with us are travelling alone and this provides a perfect opportunity for you to meet others and make plans for traveling around Uganda together with the ones you meet. Furthermore, we offer pre-arrival support by answering your questions about Uganda and by finding a volunteering project that best fits your skills and interests.
We offer in-country assistance by collecting you from the airport, getting you to your placement, and unraveling some of the more complicated cultural issues you face when entering Uganda for the first time. It is not easy to come to a completely foreign culture on your own. We want to be there for you to give you encouragement, advice and support in order for you to get the most out of your holiday or volunteer placement while you are here.
From the home, we can help arrange trips and expeditions around the country. These include wildlife safaris, hiking, white water rafting, horse-riding, fishing trips, mountain bike tours etc. While our community tours, wildlife safaris and community development volunteer projects provide an authentic, one-of-a-kind cultural experiences, it’s still nice to know that you can retreat to our comfortable living room, watch English movies, Skype your friends and family and surf the Internet in your free time.
A portion of all proceeds from this facility goes into supporting projects run by our non-for-profit organization- Ssamba Foundation. Visitors and those staying with us are welcome to check on our projects for a day, two or get involved for a longer period.
