Sustainable Rural Education Program

Welcome to Ssamba Foundation’s Sustainable Rural Education Support Program. We are delighted that you have taken this first step in finding out more about our education development program in Uganda. Education plays the central role in escaping generational poverty.

The goal of Ssamba Foundation Education Program is to empower communities and reduction of poverty through a combination of school academics support, international languages classes, financial literacy, micro finance and teaching farmers about improved agriculture practices and technologies that are environmentally sustainable such as pest management, soil and water conservation methods.

This program promotes and improve the quality of education and information consumed in rural Kyampisi sub-county, Mukono district of Uganda. The main focus is lifelong education system for sustainable development and improvement on the quality of life for community members.

Ssamba Foundation believes that education is extremely important to improve the lives of children and adults in need, this is the reason behind the establishment of the program.

Teaching Foreign Languages to Locals

Teach Languages Abroad UgandaIn today’s increasingly interconnected and interdependent world, proficiency in other languages is a vital skill that gives people the opportunity to engage with the world in a more immediate and meaningful way—whether in their neighborhood or thousands of miles away—while better preparing them to compete and succeed in the global economy.

Since its inception, the program has attracted hundreds of foreign volunteer to Uganda to get involved in the foreign Languages Training Program and other academic and social trainings. Through the international volunteers’ efforts, we aim to raise the standard of foreign languages amongst ordinary Ugandans, who increasingly need it to access jobs allowing a reasonable standard of living but lack opportunities to develop key skills such as speaking and listening.

Education Support | Scholastic Materials

Ssamba Foundation Education ProgramEarly childhood is an essential time for development. We have integrated lots of hands-on materials that allow students to experiment with reading, writing, music and art.  Children benefit from computer classes and a unique skills training program that aims to equip children with valuable skills and instill a life-long love for learning.

While each area we serve has unique needs, Ssamba Foundation encourages and sustain the academic progression of children from early education programs through secondary school and beyond. Youth and children in poverty come to our office to receive educational support, such as:

  • Uniforms: clothing, backpacks and shoes
  • Supplies: textbooks, calculators, notebooks, pencils and pens
  • Financial support: school fees and transportation costs
  • Libraries: study areas and reading materials for all ages
  • Study aids: tutoring, educational workshops and special youth programs
  • Computer center: free Internet access, basic computing courses and tutoring services
  • Scholarships: vocational training, college and university assistance

  • Two nutritious meals per day
  • The chance for a brighter future

Building Sustainability

At Ssamba Foundation we believe long term success begins and grows at the community level.  With the intent of reducing donor reliance, we have introduced various projects aimed at raising an income for operational expenses of the schools. We have introduced the livestock farm project, food growing project and other projects will be introduced soon. At the moment our sponsorship program provides funding to 100% of all school attendees
