Volunteering at the farm in Uganda is among the best ways to immerse yourself in the Uganda culture and lifestyle. Starting in February and throughout the year, we need volunteers who can help with planting, caring for animals and harvesting our crops at our Uganda farm volunteer project.
In this Uganda farm volunteer project, you will work alongside local farmers and help them with their daily work. Your tasks might include planting and watering the crops, cleaning the farm, feeding the animals, picking fruits and vegetables depending on what is needed at the time.
Some days may be busier than others as you will be working at the pace of the local farmers who also choose to have “lazy” days. Besides working with crops, you will also be working with animals including cows, sheep, goats, chicken etc.
Ssamba Foundation’s Uganda farm volunteer project empowers rural farmers of Uganda by providing them with improved seeds, farm inputs, training on modern farming techniques and provides a market for the sale of their farm produce. This gives the farmers the capacity to farm more acres and by extension leads to increased food production and security in Uganda.
If you have a love for nature and a willingness to learn, this is the perfect volunteer placement for you in Uganda. It’s a unique experience, as you’ll get to learn about organic farming through volunteering in ecological ways such as harvesting, feeding animals, cooking, as well as meeting other needs.
As a nonprofit, our amazing and generous volunteers play an integral role in the success of the project. Ssamba Foundation has volunteer opportunities for both small groups like a couple friends, families and individuals as well as more in-depth internship opportunities.
Our volunteers have the opportunity to learn a wide range of gardening skills such as, planting, harvesting, weeding, composting, and basic construction. We need your help and welcome volunteers of all ages to get involved. Volunteering at the Farm in Uganda doesn’t require any previous farming experience as our local farmers will train and educate you on healthy food systems along the way!
