On top of various community development projects run directly by the organization, Ssamba Foundation chose couple of community projects in Kyampisi Subcounty, Mukono district on which to focus its resources and assisting them with advice and linking them with suitable volunteers and possible sources of funding.
Ssamba Foundation has chosen to use most of our resources to support community schools supporting orphans and vulnerable children in Kyampisi, a children’s centre which trains vulnerable children through arts and music and a community project empowering women.
- I am Junior School
- Graben Orphanage School
- St. Denis High School
- Kuza Children’s Centre
- Hope Children’s Academy
- Shalom Women Empowerment Program
For those who have been working with us, they well know about our involvement with these projects and many of our volunteers have been placed at these projects. All these projects are based in vulnerable rural communities with acute poverty and lack of access to basic needs of many of the local people, including food, safe drinking water, education and health care.
Impressed with the hard work shown by leaders of these projects, Ssamba Foundation agreed to work with them to help reach their goals, and so agreed to help bring resources, volunteers and funding to them. Volunteers with Ssamba Foundation had been working with the schools, carrying out English, Math and sports lessons.
Other volunteers have helped building a chicken coup, a vegetable garden and assisted with purchasing construction materials. In the community, volunteers organized awareness seminars (including HIV/AIDS, water related diseases, malnutrition, microfinance etc), soccer coaching and women’s support groups.
