Ssamba Foundation was set up by Isaac Ssamba in 2006 when he was just 19 years old. He is an inspirational community leader and social worker. Although his life got off to a rough start he turned his life around, and he is now helping other vulnerable members of the society to do the same.
Isaac started fending for himself at age 14, dropped out of school several times but through hard work and an unwavering belief in himself, he was able to make it through school.
Born in the village of Mbalala (Kasenge), along the Kampala – Jinja highway. He promised his mum, that he will work hard and one day help out children of women and mothers like her, a dream & promise he has fulfilled.
He is an impressive hard-worker and extremely passionate about sustainable development, uplifting and empowering the people at the bottom of the pyramid and Isaac is an active member of the Rotary Club of Mukono Central & Uganda Red Cross Society.
Isaac leads an amazing team, dedicated to making sure your volunteering experience is as rewarding as possible. If it is your first time in Africa, he will make sure you are looked after and comfortable.
Isaac likes to meet volunteers personally at the airport; look for this man in the terminal exit, holding a sign with your name on it, or Ssamba Foundation. He will greet you with a big smile.
You will be met at the airport, driven to our volunteer house in Mukono where you will be very well looked after, experience an orientation day where we introduce you to the basics of daily life in Uganda, and arrange essentials such as SIM cards, forex exchange, using public means and internet access.
As well as our project personnel, our staff includes a housekeeper, cook, gardener, office team, and two dogs (Humble Tobiro & Naughty Papito). Rotarian Isaac Ssamba is passionate about seeing women’s and children’s lives change for the better. His motivation is to make a difference, no matter how small it seems.
