Mukono Kids Go Green is our environmental initiative based at the Kibiribiri Community Hub.
Here, children, volunteers, and community members work together to grow fruit trees, care for gardens, and learn practical ways to protect their environment.
Learning by Doing
This is not a classroom subject—it’s part of daily life.
At the hub, children actively take part in:
Tree planting and nursery care
Maintaining school gardens
Learning about sustainability through hands-on activities
These small, daily actions build lifelong awareness and responsibility.
The Tree Nursery
At the center of this initiative is our growing tree nursery.
Together, children and volunteers:
Plant and care for fruit tree seedlings
Water and maintain the nursery
Prepare trees for planting in the wider community
Over time, these trees contribute to:
Improved food security
Greener surroundings
Long-term environmental impact
A Community Effort
This work connects closely with families and the wider community.
Mothers involved in the program support garden activities
Children bring knowledge home
The community benefits from shared resources
It’s a simple but powerful cycle of learning and growth.
Part of a Bigger System
Mukono Kids Go Green is fully integrated into our work:
Children learn at Kibiribiri Community School
Mothers build livelihoods through the Women’s Centre
Communities grow through sustainable practices
Everything works together.
Your Role as a Volunteer
