At Ssamba Foundation, we believe every child deserves an opportunity to learn, develop their abilities and build a brighter future, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.
However, for many vulnerable children, access to education is affected by poverty, limited household resources and the inability of families to meet essential school-related costs.

Our Education, Sports and Youth Development Program seeks to address some of these barriers by supporting vulnerable children to access education, remain engaged in learning and develop the knowledge, confidence and life skills they need to pursue future opportunities.
Through the Kyampisi Soma Project, we support children through academic sponsorship, provision of scholastic materials, supplementary learning activities, STEM education, language learning, sports and recreational activities.

Our work complements formal schooling. Ssamba Foundation is not a school; we work alongside existing schools, local teachers, families, volunteers and other partners to support children’s educational development.
The Ssamba Foundation Centre provides a community-based environment where children can participate in additional learning experiences, explore their interests, develop talents and receive educational support beyond the classroom.

KYAMPISI SOMA PROJECT
The Kyampisi Soma Project is an education support and child development initiative designed to improve learning opportunities for vulnerable children and young people.
The project recognizes that education goes beyond attending school and passing examinations. Children also need learning materials, encouragement, academic support, exposure to new ideas, opportunities to explore their talents and a safe environment in which to develop.

Through partnerships with local teachers, international volunteers, educational institutions and community stakeholders, the project aims to provide children with a broader and more supportive learning experience.
Our approach combines educational assistance, supplementary learning, practical STEM activities, language development, sports and games.

CORE PROJECT ACTIVITIES
Academic Sponsorship and Educational Support: Through the Kyampisi Soma Project, Ssamba Foundation supports vulnerable children facing school-related financial challenges through academic sponsorship and other forms of educational assistance.
Scholastic Materials and School Requirements: The Foundation supports vulnerable children by providing essential scholastic materials and school requirements to reduce the burden on families and help children prepare for learning.

Holiday Revision and Homework Support:ย The Foundation aims to use the Ssamba Foundation Centre as a supportive learning environment where children can receive additional academic assistance during school holidays and other suitable periods.
We aim to work with local teachers and qualified volunteers to organise meaningful learning sessions that complement children’s formal education.

STEM Education and Practical Learning: The world is increasingly shaped by science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Children need opportunities to explore these subjects beyond textbooks.
Through activities at the Ssamba Foundation Centre, we aim to introduce children and young people to practical, interactive and age-appropriate STEM learning.

Language Learning and Cultural Exchange: Through the Kyampisi Soma Project, we aim to create opportunities for children and young people to learn additional languages through interactive lessons, conversations, games, storytelling and cultural exchange.
Languages of interest include: English. Spanish. German. Swahili. French.ย Other languages depending on the availability of trainers and international volunteers.

Sports, Games and Recreational Activities: We believe that children learn and develop through play, movement, teamwork and healthy competition. Sports and games are an important part of the Foundation’s approach to holistic child and youth development.
Through organized sports, recreational activities and games at the Centre and within the community, we aim to encourage physical wellbeing, social interaction, discipline, teamwork and confidence.

Our Approach: Learning Beyond the Classroom
The Kyampisi Soma Project is built around the understanding that children develop through different learning experiences. We therefore seek to combine support for formal schooling with practical, creative and recreational activities at the Ssamba Foundation Centre.
PARTNER WITH US
We invite individuals, schools, universities, educational institutions, businesses, volunteers, donors and development partners to join us in expanding the opportunities available to vulnerable children.

At Ssamba Foundation, we believe that children should not be limited by the circumstances into which they are born. With access to education, encouragement, practical learning and opportunities to grow, they can become confident, responsible and productive members of society.
Together, let us open minds, develop talents and create opportunities for the next generation.
