Access to safe and clean water, proper sanitation and good hygiene practices is fundamental to human health, dignity and sustainable community development.
Ssamba Foundation recognizes that communities cannot thrive when families struggle to access safe drinking water, children are exposed to preventable waterborne diseases and households lack adequate sanitation facilities.

Over the years, the Foundation has worked alongside rural communities across Mukono District and beyond to improve access to clean water, promote better sanitation and encourage healthier hygiene practices.
Through practical water and sanitation projects, we have sought to address everyday challenges affecting households, schools and underserved communities, particularly those where access to reliable and safe water sources has been limited.

Our work reflects a simple belief: every community deserves access to safe water, dignified sanitation and the knowledge needed to maintain a healthy living environment.
OUR PAST WATER AND SANITATION PROJECTS
Ssamba Foundation has supported community-based water and sanitation interventions designed to provide practical and sustainable solutions to water access challenges.

Our projects have focused on improving existing water sources, developing protected water infrastructure and supporting better sanitation and hygiene practices.
Community Borehole Construction: We supported the construction of community boreholes to improve access to safer and more reliable sources of drinking water in rural communities. These facilities were intended to reduce dependence on potentially contaminated water sources and bring water closer to households.

Spring Well Protection: Natural springs are important sources of water for many rural households. However, unprotected springs can easily become contaminated through surface runoff, human activities and animals.
Rainwater Harvesting Systems: Rainwater harvesting provides an additional opportunity for households and communities to collect and store water for appropriate domestic and community uses.

Sanitation and Hygiene Facilities: Access to clean water must go hand in hand with proper sanitation and good hygiene practices. The Foundation’s sanitation-related interventions have included support for facilities and activities that promote healthier household and community environments.
Our Past Impact
Through our previous water and sanitation initiatives, Ssamba Foundation has contributed to improving access to water and promoting healthier living conditions in rural communities. Over the years, our reported reach has included: More than 69,000 people reached across rural communities.

OUR CURRENT WATER PROJECT
As construction of the Ssamba Foundation Centre progresses, one essential component is still needed: a reliable source of clean water.
The Ssamba Foundation Centre is being developed to provide communities with opportunities for vocational skills training, entrepreneurship, livelihood development and economic empowerment.

For this vision to become fully functional, access to clean and reliable water is essential. Water is not simply a convenience. It is fundamental to the health, dignity, safety and successful operation of the Centre.
The Solution: A Solar-Powered Borehole System
Ssamba Foundation is working towards installing a solar-powered borehole water system at the Centre. The proposed system will provide a more sustainable and dependable water supply while reducing reliance on conventional electricity.

By harnessing solar energy, the project aims to establish a practical, long-term water solution that supports the Centre’s operations and wider community development vision.
HELP US BRING CLEAN WATER TO LUVULE
We are currently mobilizing resources to complete the proposed solar-powered borehole water system. Your contribution will support:
- Borehole drilling and installation
- Solar pumping system installation
- Water storage infrastructure
- Associated water supply installation works

BUDGET:
- Project fundraising target: USD 23,500
- Funds raised so far: USD 1,400
- Remaining funding needed: USD 22,100
Every contribution brings us closer to providing the Ssamba Foundation Centre with a reliable source of clean water. Help us bring clean water to Luvule and make the Centre a place where children and families can learn, grow and build better futures.
Together, we can bring clean water closer to communities, improve lives and build more sustainable futures.
