Imagine spending your time in Uganda not simply as a tourist, but as someone who shares ideas, learns new skills, builds friendships and contributes to meaningful community activities.
If you are planning an international volunteering experience in 2027 or 2028, Uganda offers opportunities to discover a different culture while participating in grassroots community development.
At Ssamba Foundation, we welcome international volunteers to join our Community Volunteer Programย in Kyampisi, Mukono District, Uganda.

Whether you are a student, graduate, professional, skilled individual, gap-year traveler or someone looking for a meaningful overseas experience, you can become part of our community activities.
What Volunteer Opportunities Are Available in Uganda?
Our program brings together different areas of community development. Rather than placing every volunteer in one fixed job, we coordinate participation according to ongoing projects, community needs, individual skills and interests.
Depending on activities during your visit, you may participate in:
Education and Youth Development: Support supplementary learning, reading, language practice, STEM activities, educational games, sports and youth engagement.

Agriculture and Food Security: Participate in kitchen gardening, backyard farming, agricultural demonstrations, food production and environmental conservation activities.
Women’s Empowerment: Support skills-sharing activities involving tailoring, crafts, crocheting, entrepreneurship, financial literacy and vocational development.
Public Health: Assist with community health awareness, disease prevention campaigns, hygiene education and health outreach activities.

Building and Construction: Contribute to suitable construction, renovation, painting, maintenance and community facility improvement projects, according to your experience and supervision requirements.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene: Support hygiene awareness, sanitation promotion and practical community environmental activities.
You are not restricted to one area. You may combine different activities during your placement.

Volunteer Throughout 2027 and 2028
The Ssamba Foundation Community Volunteer Program welcomes enquiries throughout the year. You can discuss short-term and longer placements, depending on your availability and the Foundation’s program calendar.
Activities and placements are coordinated individually, so we encourage early enquiries, particularly for groups and longer stays. We do not promise a fixed job role. Instead, we offer an opportunity to become actively involved in community development.

More Than Volunteering: Experience Ugandan Culture
Your experience is not limited to project activities. Live close to the community, discover Ugandan food, learn local expressions, experience traditions, attend community gatherings where appropriate and build friendships with local people.
Volunteers are accommodated at Kyampisi Backpackers Home, near Ssamba Foundation Centre. You can also explore Uganda through optional tours, cultural excursions and wildlife safaris, arranged separately.

Who Can Apply?
We welcome students, graduates, teachers, professionals, skilled volunteers, families and independent travelers interested in cultural exchange and community development.
Applicants should be respectful, flexible, willing to learn and comfortable participating in a community-based environment. Specialist and regulated activities require appropriate qualifications and supervision.

Plan Your Uganda Volunteer Experience
Before travelling, allow time to discuss your placement, accommodation, program fees, travel insurance and the appropriate Ugandan immigration permission. Volunteer activities may require a permit rather than ordinary tourist entry. Check the official immigration requirements before departure.
Make 2027 or 2028 a year of discovery, cultural exchange and meaningful contribution.
Join Ssamba Foundation, experience community life in Uganda and become part of a journey towards stronger, more sustainable communities.
