High School Volunteer Projects Uganda

Are you a high school student looking for a meaningful way to spend your school holiday, gain new experiences and make a positive difference? High school volunteer projects in Uganda offer an opportunity to discover a new culture, meet people from different backgrounds and participate in community development activities.

Through the Ssamba Foundation’s Community Volunteer Program, young people can experience life in a Ugandan community while contributing to practical projects in Mukono District.

What Can High School Students Do?

Our volunteer program is flexible. Participants are involved in activities according to ongoing projects, community priorities, their interests, age, skills and suitability.

Possible activities include:

  • Education Support: Assist with reading, English practice, creative learning, games and educational activities for children.
  • Agriculture and Environment: Participate in gardening, tree planting and practical agricultural activities.
  • Community Development: Support community events, environmental activities and improvement initiatives.
  • Women’s Empowerment: Learn about vocational skills, entrepreneurship and initiatives supporting women’s livelihoods.
  • Public Health and WASH: Assist with community awareness activities on hygiene, sanitation and healthy living.

These activities provide opportunities to learn teamwork, communication, leadership, responsibility and cultural understanding.

Experience Ugandan Culture

Volunteering is also an opportunity to experience everyday life in Uganda. Participants can interact with local communities, discover Ugandan food and traditions, learn a few local words, make friends and exchange ideas with young people and families.

It is more than simply visiting another country. It is an opportunity to understand different ways of life and develop a broader perspective of the world.

Who Can Participate?

Our program welcomes applications from young adults aged 18โ€“19, including recent high school graduates. Applicants younger than 18 must travel with a parent, guardian or approved accompanying adult. Participation requires prior assessment and approval, parental consent and appropriate safeguarding arrangements.

All activities involving children are age-appropriate and properly supervised. Volunteers do not replace local teachers or qualified professionals.
