Are you looking for education and teaching volunteer opportunities in Uganda? Join Ssamba Foundation in Mukono and contribute to community learning, youth development and cultural exchange.
Ssamba Foundation is a Ugandan community-based organization working to create opportunities for children, young people, women and families. Our education-related volunteer activities form part of our integrated Community Volunteer Program, coordinated from Ssamba Foundation Centre in Kyampisi, Mukono District.

This is a Centre-based community volunteering opportunity, not a school teaching placement. Ssamba Foundation is not a formal school. Volunteers do not replace local teachers or take responsibility for regular classroom teaching. Instead, they support supplementary learning and youth activities at the Centre and in surrounding communities.
What Can You Do as an Education Volunteer?
Depending on ongoing activities, your skills and program needs, you may participate in:
- Learning support: Reading, storytelling, homework assistance, English practice and educational games.
- STEM activities: Practical science, technology, mathematics, digital literacy and creative problem-solving.
- Sports and recreation: Football, games, arts, music and activities that encourage teamwork.
- Language exchange: Sharing languages such as English, French, Spanish or German while learning about Ugandan culture.
- Youth mentorship: Sharing knowledge, career experiences, leadership skills and personal development ideas.
Activities are coordinated by our local team and may vary during your stay.

More Than Teaching – Experience Community Life
Education is one of five focus areas within our wider volunteer program. You may also participate in agriculture, women empowerment, public health, or water and sanitation activities.
This flexible approach allows you to contribute to different community initiatives rather than being restricted to one role.

You will also experience Ugandan culture, local food, traditions and everyday community life. Accommodation is available at Kyampisi Backpackers Home.
