Our Community Volunteer Program brings together different activities under one flexible volunteering experience. Rather than assigning volunteers to separate programs or fixed job roles, we coordinate participation according to ongoing projects, community priorities, individual skills and interests.
Depending on the activities available during your visit, you may contribute to:
- Education and youth development: Supplementary learning, STEM activities, sports and educational support.
- Agriculture and food security: Kitchen gardens, backyard farming, sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.
- Women’s empowerment: Tailoring, crafts, entrepreneurship, vocational skills and livelihood development.
- Public health: Community health awareness, disease prevention and health outreach support.
- Building and construction: Suitable construction, renovation, maintenance and community facility improvement activities.
- Water, sanitation and hygiene: Hygiene awareness, environmental activities and community sanitation initiatives.
You may participate in several activities during your stay, depending on your abilities, project requirements and appropriate supervision.
More Than Volunteering – Experience Uganda
Volunteering with Ssamba Foundation is also an opportunity for cultural immersion. Experience Ugandan traditions, local food, languages and everyday community life while building friendships and exchanging knowledge with local people.
Volunteers stay at Kyampisi Backpackers Home, close to the Foundation’s community programs. You can also explore Uganda through optional tours and wildlife safaris arranged separately.
