Are you interested in building, construction, practical skills and community development? Join Ssamba Foundation in Uganda and contribute to projects that help create and improve spaces for learning, training and community activities.
Based in Kyampisi, Mukono District, Ssamba Foundation works with local communities to promote sustainable development through education, agriculture, women’s empowerment, public health, water and sanitation, and community infrastructure.

Our building and construction activities form part of the Ssamba Foundation Community Volunteer Program. Volunteers may support ongoing construction, renovation, maintenance and improvement projects at the Foundation Centre and other community project sites, depending on current needs, available resources and individual skills.
What Can You Do as a Building & Construction Volunteer?
Depending on the projects underway during your visit, activities may include:
- Building and construction: Supporting suitable tasks on community infrastructure projects alongside local workers.
- Renovation and maintenance: Helping improve existing buildings, facilities and shared community spaces.
- Painting and finishing: Participating in painting, decorating and other appropriate finishing activities.
- Landscaping and site improvement: Supporting grounds preparation, gardening, cleaning and improvement of outdoor spaces.
- Practical skills exchange: Sharing relevant knowledge and learning traditional and locally appropriate building approaches.
- Community facility development: Contributing to the improvement of spaces that support training, meetings and community programmes.

Construction work is coordinated by the local team. Technical, structural, electrical and other specialist tasks are restricted to appropriately qualified or experienced people under suitable supervision. Volunteers are not promised a fixed construction role.
