Volunteer in Uganda – Women Empowerment

Are you passionate about women’s empowerment, skills development and community transformation? Join Ssamba Foundation in Uganda and support initiatives that help women build practical skills, explore business opportunities and strengthen their livelihoods.

Based in Kyampisi, Mukono District, Ssamba Foundation promotes opportunities for women to learn, develop confidence and participate in sustainable community development.

Our women’s empowerment activities are part of the Ssamba Foundation Community Volunteer Program. Volunteers contribute to ongoing activities at the Foundation Centre and in surrounding communities, depending on current projects, local priorities, their skills and interests.

What Can You Do as a Women Empowerment Volunteer?

Depending on the activities taking place during your visit, you may support:

  • Tailoring and garment design: Sharing ideas and supporting practical sewing, clothing design and garment-making activities.
  • Hairdressing and beauty skills: Supporting skills-sharing activities that encourage creativity and potential self-employment.
  • Crocheting, knitting and weaving: Helping women explore creative crafts and develop products for personal use or potential income generation.
  • Bakery and culinary skills: Sharing food preparation, baking and practical cooking knowledge.
  • Entrepreneurship and small business: Supporting discussions on business planning, customer care, marketing and enterprise development.
  • Financial literacy: Sharing practical ideas about budgeting, saving, money management and responsible financial decisions.
  • Confidence and leadership: Encouraging knowledge exchange, personal development and women’s participation in community life.
